UWE SCHLENKER WINS MARKETING AWARD FOR LAUNCHING AND DEVELOPING CENTRALINE ENERGY-EFFICIENT HVAC CONTROLS
Uwe Schlenker, marketing communications manager for Honeywell Building Controls EMEA, has won the Frank Dennis OBE Marketing Award, one of six categories in the 2006 Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Training Awards. The award recognises Schlenker’s work in launching and developing CentraLine, a Europe-wide brand for energy-efficient networked HVAC system automation in small and medium sized buildings. CentraLine was created to distinguish a new product range developed by Honeywell and supplied through independent control system specialists called “Partners”. Schlenker’s citation explained the branding exercise, led by Schlenker which, within 18 months, resulted in CentraLine being established in 14 markets throughout Europe and with 130 Partner companies.
Schlenker was responsible for developing a distinctive design style, selecting suitable promotional media for promotion and identifying new niche markets. Schlenker determined that CentraLine should be supported throughout by a strong and distinctive design style and strongly emotional branding, carried across a range of printed materials and a web site. All promotion is cross-media and leads to “CentraLine City” http://www.centraline.com/, where visitors are initially presented, not with products and specifications, but an animated cityscape of buildings such as a school, health centre and offices. Users can click buildings to see benefits and components of a CentraLine system for that building type.
The Frank Dennis OBE Marketing Award was sponsored by the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA), the recognised UK body which represents the interests of manufacturers, suppliers, installers and contractors within the HVAC industry.
