Tectite Sprints to innovation accolade

Tectite Sprint, the latest product development from leading fittings and valves manufacturer Yorkshire Fittings, has been recognised by the Construction Products Association for a “Construction Products Innovation and Achievement Award 2006” (CPIA).

The accolade was achieved under the category of “Innovation”, and follows Tectite Sprint’s launch in January this year. As the newest product within the Tectite push-fit fittings range, Tectite Sprint has a unique slim-line design. Manufactured from copper or DZR brass, fittings are available in sizes from 10mm to 28mm. A key feature is its versatility as, in common with Tectite Classic (the original and demountable Tectite fitting), fittings can be used for jointing copper tube, PEX and PB pipes. Its sleek appearance and simple tool-free jointing action makes Tectite Sprint particularly suited to installation in confined spaces.

The accomplishment was marked by a presentation of the Construction Products Innovation and Achievement certificate by Rita Singh, Environment and Industry Performance Director, to Lee Clayton, Market Sector Manager of Yorkshire Fittings.

Speaking about the achievement, Lee Clayton said, “We’re delighted to have been selected for this year’s CPIA and that our commitment to innovation has been recognised. Tectite Sprint was designed and developed in the UK and the manufacturing programme has resulted in a multi-million pound investment in our Leeds site.”

Simon Storer, External Affairs Director of the Construction Products Association added, “The CPIA shows how the construction products industry is continuously developing and creating innovative products and processes which make a significant impact to the whole life cost cycle of a building. The
subject of modern methods of construction is regularly discussed; the companies included in CPIA show that they are already doing what others are just talking about.”

Tectite Sprint is one of only 16 products nationwide to be chosen in the Innovation category for this year’s CPIA, which showcases the construction products industry’s most innovative products and processes from the previous twelve months through a dedicated publication.
