“Manufacturing every product we supply to the UK heating and plumbing industry is a key aspect of the Halstead business and one that very much sets us apart from the competition,” says Halstead’s Jayne Hall, who joined the company as chief executive in October last year.

Whilst some of the UK’s domestic boiler manufacturers are consolidating and rationalising their production facilities, Halstead has confirmed its commitment to its UK-based production site in Essex, and six months into the post, the company’s chief executive says she sees manufacturing for the UK is vital for the future for Halstead and the heating and plumbing industry:

“We remain totally committed to being a British manufacturer, with its own end-to-end manufacturing and assembly plant in Halstead. We fully recognise that having this facility puts the company in the unique position of being the only company currently manufacturing in the UK, every high efficiency boiler that it supplies.

“Flexibility and responsiveness has paid a key part for Halstead in addressing and delivering on the changes to Part L of the Building Regulations in 2005 as well as the high level of quality, reliable products, combined with excellent technical and sales support for installers, merchants and the homeowners themselves. Without doubt, therefore, I consider that having our own, dedicated manufacturing facility enables us to meet the industry requirements as they have evolved and taken shape – indeed, by having our own production site, Halstead can take swift action in identifying and implementing any enhancements or modifications to our appliances to ensure installers have the product they need,” she says.

“Recent modifications to our HE condensing boilers and a new telescopic anti-plume flue kit serve to demonstrate this.”
Halstead has been manufacturing heating appliances at its Essex base since 1975. The closure of local and long established boiler manufacturer Charles Portway, led a group of its design and technical employees to form Halstead Heating & Engineering, which rapidly became well known in the fast growing central heating market.

After a brief period of ownership by Barlo plc, Andrew Marshall and Brian Day assumed ownership of the company, which grew steadily in size, reputation and market share, over the subsequent years, before being acquired by the Glen Dimplex Group in November 2004.

All models within Halstead’s range of boilers are manufactured at its 45,000 square foot production site in Essex and are SEDBUK A rated to deliver maximum efficiency. They are designed and manufactured using premium components, including a stainless steel heat exchanger and top quality digital electronics.

The Eden X Type range includes the CBX 24kW and 32kW Combination Boiler, the SBX 30kW sealed system and the VBX 18kW and 30kW open vent appliances, all of which are SEDBUK A rated for maximum efficiency and come with a two-year manufacturers warranty.

Halstead’s Ace HE 24kW and 30kW is a SEDBUK A combi condensing boiler that is very competitively priced and has an excellent reputation in the market place.

The Club HE 18 sealed system condensing boiler is the newest edition to the range and offers a competitively priced solution for sealed system applications. Both of these ranges are SEDBUK A rated and come with a two-year manufacturers warranty.
