LOYALTY AND LONG SERVICE AT VOKERA
Three members of the Vokera team have each been recognised for over 20 years of loyal service for the company. Darren Payne (shown above right with MD Rob Banks), John Moore and Terry Asser have a combined total of 63 years’ service for Vokera!
ICT director Darren Payne started working for Vokera 23 years ago in the warehouse at the tender age of 16. After moving his way up the ranks through spares, service and technical departments, Darren moved into ICT when Vokera invested in its first IT system, and was IT manager before becoming ICT director.
Lead engineer John Moore reached his 20 year milestone earlier this year. Speaking about his career, John said: “I can honestly say I really do enjoy working for Vokera, I especially like solving customers’ problems and keeping them happy.” Vokera recently held a presentation for John where he received a long service award and a trip to Italy for John and his wife. Whilst there, they took the opportunity to visit Vokera’s parent company - the Riello Group – which included a factory tour!
Vokera’s operations director Terry Asser also celebrated 20 years loyal service with Vokera during 2006. When Terry began his Vokera career there were just 10 people working for the company. Like Darren, he started working in the spares department and worked his way up the ladder through various roles. These included spares manager, purchasing and logistics manager, operations director in Ireland and sales and operations director, before he took the opportunity to work for Vokera’s parent company, Riello, where he held the very long job title of ‘foreign countries commercial director for spare parts of boilers and burners’. Terry returned to Vokera in April 2006 to take up his current position as operations director.
Vokera’s managing director, Rob Banks, says: “It is a staggering achievement for any company to have any member of staff that has given 20 years loyal service, but to have three is testament to the ethos of Vokera and the team that we have here of dedicated professionals. On behalf of the management team I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of these individuals for their loyalty over the past 20 plus years.”
