Ideal Standard Previews New Wellness Innovations

Ideal Standard previewed its newest innovations in the home wellness arena at ISH, the world’s leading trade fair for bathroom and building technologies.
Ideal Standard’s Soft Bath made from a brand new material; Senses, a new range of shower kits; and its latest WWW whirlpool enhanced with chromotherapy, combine the latest advancements in technology, design and therapeutic knowledge turning the bathroom into a true sanctuary for relaxation and well-being.

Soft Bath provides a glimpse into bathtubs of the future. Designed by award winning designer Marc Sadler, Soft Bath is made from a special compound material primarily used today in motorbike seats.  The result is a substance that is even more resilient than acrylic yet much softer to the touch, shinier and more flexible offering the potential to create many different shapes. Additionally, it has the benefit of maintaining water temperature. Initial testing is indicating that water stays warmer almost twice as long as with a normal bathtub.  This also potentially reduces the amount of water and energy used per bath through the topping up with hot water to regain pleasurable temperature levels.  Soft Bath is expected to be available across Europe later this year.

Ideal Standard’s range of WWW luxury hydro-massage baths offers eye catching and elegant design which is both functional and stylish. The new WWW whirlpools are now also available in a black finish with chrome jets and fittings. Moreover, the WWW line is enhanced through chromotherapy as an add-on into the portfolio.  Chromotherapy uses colour and light to balance physical, emotional, spiritual and mental energy.  Lamps in the bath emit colours to induce desired effects. The system is operated by an easy-to-use and easy to clean touch pad which also controls other features such as hydro and dry massage functions.
In addition to its original rectangular shaped bathtub, WWW is also now available in a new corner 140x140cm version.

Using an innovative new shape, Ideal Standard’s Senses shower kits created by design house, Artefakt, offer a new approach to shower design. The rounded square of the shower head moves beyond sharp-edged geometry to create a more pleasant and soft appearance, reflecting the more general design trend toward gentler lines and shapes.
The collection consists of four models in different sizes and with different functions to suit everyone’s individual requirements. Each model is distinguished by its chromed, ergonomic, rectangular handle, and an easy-to-clean rubber spray head. These are completed by easy-to-use sliding rails. Several models come equipped with a patented turbine-powered massage function to increase the sense of relaxation and well-being.
“These innovations take home wellness to the next level,” says Lucio Colussi, Ideal Standard’s Category Leader, Acrylics and Wellness, Europe, Middle East and Africa.  “Ideal Standard has used its expertise to create four new wellness products that are functional, innovative and stylish. We commissioned a consumer survey in 2006 to gauge attitudes towards wellness in the home. What became apparent from the results was a definite trend towards the convenience of having more equipment for pampering and relaxing in the bathroom.”

Earlier this year, Ideal Standard also launched a new range of 8mm thick glass shower enclosures by Marc Sadler, which allow users to revitalise and relax their bodies in true style.   Designed for use on Ideal-Standard’s Tonic range of acrylic shower trays or on tiles in wet rooms, the new enclosures are made from 8mm thick, reinforced glass. The toughened glass has undergone a special treatment so that it is durable and easy-to-clean. It is held in place by an elegant framework aluminium chromed bars which improve stability and safety while creating a stunning design feature.
The shower enclosure can be combined with a wide range of Ideal Standard shower fittings to further create a look that is unique and stylish.

As wellness equipment becomes increasingly ingrained in homes across Europe, Ideal Standard is developing its expertise in the area to bring its customers innovative products that combine beautiful design with functionality.  These new products build on its range of hydro-massage showers, whirlpools and unique items such as the TRIS all-in-one sauna, hammam and shower.
