Castlepoint and Glow-worm have combined to make a sizeable donation to local charities on Canvey Island, Essex, aimed at helping the needy and less able.

Castlepoint – headed by industry veteran Dave Wells – have chose three local charities to support – the Pheonix Club, Crossroads and the Castlepoint Car Scheme.

“We aim to support local charities which may find funding a bit difficult for a variety of reasons. The three charities all help assist the less able in our community towards a better quality of life. We believe implicitly in putting ‘something’ back into our local and regional communities. It would marvellous if the whole industry looked at its own local communities and helped in whatever way they could. Every little bit helps,” comments Dave Wells.

Castlepoint, founded in 1982, is one of the biggest plumbing and heating contractors in the south-east with over 100 staff. The firm has its own Apprenticeship Training Scheme – with 16 currently proceeding through the various stages – and one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.

For Glow-worm David Brown said,” We are delighted to work with Castlepoint on this project. We are especially mindful of the position which Castlepoint takes in the domestic heating industry – it proves that a firm can be big, successful and show a caring side to its own community.”
