COMBI CALL CLAIMS FIRST EVER FLEXICOM INSTALLATION

“Glow-worm’s Flexicom was launched on the Monday and we finished our first installation by mid-day on the Wednesday. Can any installer out there match it? Beat that!” says Peter Schofield of Bradford-based installation firm CombiCall Limited.

The site was on a new private housing estate which already had a combi.  The existing boiler kept failing and breaking down. Peter consulted with his customer and tried his best to keep it ‘alive’.

“But it was just wasn’t up to the job and it was not economical for the householder. He was paying out a lot on service, maintenance and breakdowns. We had no hesitation in recommending a Glow-worm. We took the customer through all the arguments in favour of High Efficiency and Glow-worm. There was no problem in him understanding the fuel-cost savings and the environmental benefits. He near bit our hand off!”

“The local Glow-worm rep Clive Bentley was invaluable in helping source a Flexicom so quickly. We knew it was coming but were really pleased when Clive was able to meet the timing of getting it to site so quick,” says Peter.

“The installation was straightforward and simple – one out, one in – just a bit more pipework for the Flexicom cx combi with the condensate drain. Peter had the boiler installed and running in less than two hours – “which is pretty good for me!” adds Peter.

Peter has been a heating installer for 22 years, starting on a YTS scheme with his father.

“We are delighted with the Glow-worm Flexicom – especially the rear flueing. That makes life so much more easier and uncomplicated. It is, just like it says on the tin, so as to speak, extremely flexible for siting and so small that it fitted snugly inside a kitchen wall cupboard”, adds Peter.

Flexicom is also available as Combi, Heating only, or System boilers with outputs from 12 to 30kW. Designed to complement the xi range, the SEDBUK ‘A’ rated Flexicom gives installers a flexible product offering to suit virtually every installation type.

The direct rear flue option so admired by Peter is available on all Flexicom boilers and is telescopic, so it does not need to be cut to length. Extensive flueing options are a feature of the Flexicom, allowing much greater flexibility when it comes to installation.

“The one-piece fixing jig supplied with the Flexicom cx combi made quick work of making sure the hanging bracket and jig were perfectly aligned. We didn’t remove the front casing during the installation or commissioning because of a pull-out electrical connections block”.

Peter added that at this site he didn’t need to use the really useful and practical Glow-worm boilers accessories such as Glow-worm’s Plume Management Kit and the Condensate Pump, “However, it’s nice to know we can use them if the site warrants or needs them.”

“I have an instinctive feeling that we will gravitate towards the Flexicom combis – with two models at 24kW and 30kW outputs - these will cover almost all of the type of jobs we do,” says Peter.

Business levels are good for CombiCall Limited and Peter fully expects to increase rate of installation by using Flexicom combis. “It is a simple equation – quick and easy installation means we get on to the next job sooner!”
